Last month, Anvyl’s team in China attended Luxepack Shanghai, the premier show for creative packaging. While there was a significant reduction in foreign guest attendance in comparison to prior years, life in Shanghai is attempting to revert back to normal. The in-person event allowed our team to converse with both current and new vendors, ensuring that our Sourcing Hub continues to work with and offer socially responsible suppliers in Asia.
Our focus at the event this year was to engage with suppliers who have responsible recycling practices. Product packaging is in higher demand now as more goods are shipped directly to consumers during quarantine orders, and we have been hard at work to provide our customers with innovative options that are also environmentally friendly.
Plastic alternatives
We work with hundreds of brands that are striving for plastic-free packaging by the end of 2025 or earlier. At the conference, our team met up with suppliers that produce plastic parts out of recycled materials. We also continue to see manufacturing techniques that recycle ocean plastics and other bio-based materials to provide a comparable plastic substitute.
Recycled paper products
Meeting suppliers that work with paper in sustainable ways was also on our to-do list. We were particularly impressed with the manufacturers that could trace their products from a specific location, meet guidelines to prevent deforestation, and ethically replant the resources they removed.

In addition to wearing masks, the new normal to attend an in-person event in China requires supplemental safety measures, such as travel documentation within the last 14 days and a health code scan prior to entering the conference.
